NaNoWriMo Day 20: A 6,000-Word Day. Not.

In his book No Plot? No Problem!, NaNoWriMo founder, Chris Baty, suggests getting ahead in your word count by “harnessing the power of 6,000-word days.” I tried it. I got to 4,000 words for Saturday and I decided I was far enough ahead and to stop for the day. It just wasn’t fun anymore. I knew I wanted to take a break from writing until Sunday.  I wanted to enjoy the rest of my Saturday. While I agree a 6,000-word day is admirable, I don’t regret my decision. But, today is Sunday and I may try again. But if I decide to take a break after a few thousand words, so what. After Thanksgiving,  I have vacation days for the remainder of November, so I’ll be doing a lot of writing then. Or not.
