I finished the third step of my writing process for NaNoWriMo 2022.
My writing process for NaNoWriMo 2022:
Step 1: Write one complete sentence summarizing each scene
Step 2: Turn each sentence into a five sentence paragraph.
Step 3: Turn each paragraph into five paragraphs. (I’m writing step 3 in red to help it stick out)
Step 4: Turn the five paragraphs into a narrative (Not started yet.)
Simultaneously, I also reached 25,000 words, the half-way point. In step three, I wrote out the scene as part screenplay, part list, part brain-dump. It helped me think out the scene in detail and prepared me to start back at the beginning and write out each scene as step four. This step is the actual narrative, what everyone thinks when they think of writing fiction. The dialogue, the description, the inner monologue and so on.
I’m anxious to see if using the first three steps will help me write step four more smoothly. My intuition tells me it will. I feel I have minimized the thinking out what happens in the scene; I’ve already done that in the first three steps. I will let you know how it goes.
