It’s Thursday evening and I’m going to wrap up my first week of Camp NaNoWriMo July 2022. Word count: 8482. This time, I’m working on three projects at once: 2 novels and a novella. I’m writing 333 words on all 3 each day. It’s simple. It’s fun. And I’m able to dabble a little bit in each project regularly. I hate having several projects and working on only one while I forget everything about the others. This way, I can keep up with all 3 WIPs. It’s working great so far and making progress on all three.
One thing, though: I haven’t been reading much lately. Last month, I wrapped up my novella called Traption. And over the long Independence Day weekend, I watched too much tv! But I can count the shows I watched as research for my writing. True fact!
So here’s what I’ve watched lately:
Friday’s Findings:
- Stranger Things, Season 4 (Netflix); best season ever! This show was the reason I first subscribed to streaming channels in the first place. I’ve always enjoyed this show. No spoilers, so I won’t say anything else, but season 5 (final season) looks like it’s going to be great.
- The Umbrella Academy, Season 3 (Netflix) If you like Stranger Things, you might like Umbrella Academy. Outcast teens in a speculative fictional world they’re trying to save. But they keep getting in their own way.
- The Legend of Vox Machina, Season 1 (Prime) My coworker told me about this show. It’s animation with a fantasy/D&D flavor and it’s excellent. Lots of fun characters (I loves me a team story). The little gnome dude is my favorite, but he is bawdy.
- The Boys, Season 3 (Prime) Speaking of bawdy, the third season of this show is the most depraved yet. It’s pretty violent, sexual and dark, and if it weren’t satire, I wouldn’t watch it. But it is great storytelling. It’s the best parody of the Justice League/Avengers I’ve seen. NOT family friendly.
But as far as my reading, since I’m ahead on Camp NaNoWriMo, I can get back into reading a little this month.
