I’m wearing my Duncan Idaho hoodie to keep me inspired while I write.:)
Well I gave in and lowered my Camp NaNoWriMo goal from 25,000 words to 15,000 words. Why did I do that? I’ve decided to enjoy my weekend writing as well as doing other things—like watching the Batman on HBO Max instead of fretting over a certain word goal.
I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders and I can actually enjoy the process of creative writing and not be worried over an arbitrary number.
I hope that doesn’t sound like a cop-out, but to be honest I don’t care. I’m pleased with what I’ve written so far. And I’m finally getting some scenes written that I’ve been meaning to write for a long time. In that sense, this Camp NaNoWriMo has been a success.
15,000 words will be easy to achieve by the end of next Saturday; that gives me a whole week. Thank goodness camp NaNoWriMo offers the option of changing the word goal. Bless you NaNoWriMo!
Oh and oh yeah I want to take a nap sometime.
Regardless of the end goal – progress is progress. My original story for Camp only ran about 27k, but I’ve continued on writing throughout the month – and that’s really the benefit of Camp / other writing events for me. Good luck in reaching your goals – regardless of what the numbers are.
Thanks. I’m discovering it’s important to just enjoy the process and not get it too uptight about goals.
