Ten years ago, my city had so many more bookstores than it does now. Both locally- owned and major retailers took hits, and I hated to see them close. Remember Borders Bookstores?
Yes, part of it is Amazon’s fault. Part of it was my fault for buying books online. But it’s so convenient! I still peruse Half Priced Books and Barnes and Noble. I haven’t been to locally-owned Carmichael’s Bookstores a while. Need to visit.
The good news is that the situation is stabilizing.
So this week if you do any Christmas shopping, visit your town’s bookstores.
