Let’s Catch Up

One thing I intended to do with this blog was to give updates on my writing life. I haven’t been very good at it. So, here is a bullet list of what I’m working on:

The bad news is that it is taking longer than expected to finish Normous, the next installment in my Consortium series. The good news is that I am making progress. I am at the point where I am tweaking sentences and paragraphs; the end is in sight.
And the Consortium installment after Normous is called Parch. I outlined it a while ago, and now I spend about ten minutes a day writing a rough, fast draft. It’s coming along nicely.
I’m tracking my writing progress on a free website called the Page One to Done App. It’s helping me stay consistent with both Normous and Parch. It’s associated with Jessica Brody’s recently published book Page One to Done, which I highly recommend. I’m not sure how they’re connected, but both the book and the website have really helped me keep up with my word count totals this year.
I’m beta reading my second manuscript this year. It’s a fantasy by a co-worker, and it’s a solid, solid first draft. He is eagerly awaiting feedback from all his beta readers, so I’m trying to hurry. But want to give him my best, but It’s taking slightly longer than I intended. I’m getting there. I’m annotating each scene so I can give him solid input. I think he is going to go the traditional publishing route. When he does get his book out there, I will definitely review it on my book review website, Aenigma Scenes.
And speaking of my reading, I finished the series The Faithful and the Fallen by John Gwynne. If you are looking for a finished epic fantasy series, check this one out. It’s four books, and the first one is Malice. Here’s my review of the whole series.
I am currently reading the first book in The Fireborn Epic by Gillian Bronte Adams (which is a great name for a writer). It’s a fantasy called Of Fire and Ashes and it’s and it has warrior horses that burn like fire and can disappear in the shadows.
