Never stop learning your craft. I’m a little surprised that some people I know who like to write aren’t interested in further training. I guess I understand. but I like taking online classes about writing fiction. I have to be careful, because I don’t want learning to replace actual writing.
Writers can spend a little time each week honing their craft. Here are some suggestions:
- read a book on the writing craft
- take an online class in fiction writing
- put together a local group of fiction writers
- rewrite something you wrote years ago.
That last one inspires me to think of five things I’ve learned about fiction writing that I didn’t know five years ago. I’ll post my answers in an upcoming blog entry.
