Storyboarding is a way to outline your novel.
I love this idea! The storyboard concept is borrowed from the animation industry. It’s a way to plan out your novel or short story using panels of illustrations. Here are some tips:
- Use index cards. For each scene, draw a sketch to represent what happens.
- Use Scrivener. This writing software has an index card function.
- Use simple sketches. Don’t get too caught up in drawing that you never get to writing your story.
- Use ai for your drawings. I use Night Cafe. It’s a quick way to produce illustrations for the storyboard.
It doesn’t have to be complicated. You can draw stick figures if it helps. If you’d like more tips on storyboarding your novel, check out these links.
